Q | Is EFT completely safe? | To Top |
A | It has proven to be completely safe in everything it has been used for so far. |
Q | Will EFT work on my problem? | To Top |
A | We try EFT on everything. So far it has worked on everything except a few physical problems. As we learn more about how to apply EFT skillfully, even physical problems are achieving improvement. |
Q | Do I need to do anything to prepare for an EFT session? | To Top |
A | No. Marelon will ask you questions to get the process rolling. On the other hand, if you have a number of issues you want to address, you are welcome to write them down and read them or give them to Marelon. |
Q | I don’t have any strong feelings but my life is a mess. Can EFT help? | To Top |
A | Yes. EFT practitioners have several ways to help a “non-feeling” client get in touch with core beliefs and issues, without causing trauma or excessive emotional pain. |
Q | I’ve read that EFT produces instant results. Can I expect this? | To Top |
A | They DO happen! However they cannot be predicted or expected. The simpler your issue, the more likely it is that you will experience fast results. Most people’s issues, however, are complex and each piece must be healed. This can take time. |
Q | Do I have to believe that EFT works? I want to try it out before I make a commitment. | To Top |
A | EFT works with the body’s energy system and is not dependent on your belief in it. You are welcome to reserve judgement until after you have experienced it with a properly trained and experienced practitioner. |
Q | My friend did some EFT on me and didn’t work. Why not? | To Top |
A | EFT is deceptively easy to learn – just tap on fourteen points. However the art of EFT is in knowing what to tap on and how to get to core issues. This takes considerable training and experience. Most beginners tap on statements that make sense to them but which miss the real issue. If you want to experience the real power of EFT, work with a trained and experienced practitioner. |
Q | What is switching aspects? | To Top |
A | Issues often need to be broken down into separate aspects or “bite sized pieces” of the problem. As tapping proceeds on a single aspect, it can collapse without warning and the client may then “switch” her awareness to another piece, without realizing that the first aspect has been healed.
An experienced EFT practitioner will point out that an aspect has been collapsed and a new aspect has arisen. In this way, the client can understand that real progress is being made. |
Q | Does EFT ever make emotional problems worse? Can EFT cause a person to feel worse? | To Top |
A | Generally, not. However, when there are a great many issues and a great many negative core beliefs, a client’s issues and aspects are so complex that each time one is healed, another soon surfaces, so it may appear as if matters are getting worse. This kind of client can feel lighter at the end of a session and then within hours or days, begin to feel depressed or heavy or in pain again. This pain is not caused by EFT itself but instead by the result of starting to address unresolved issues – this may be a challenge to experience but is also the start of deeper healing. |
Q | How much does EFT cost? | To Top |
A | This varies with the practitioner but the industry standard is anywhere from $80 to $200 an hour. |
Q | I can only afford to come once a month. Will EFT still be helpful? | To Top |
A | Absolutely. Marelon has many clients who only come once a month and they continue to make progress, although more slowly than those who come more often. Marelon does suggest if your issues are complex, that it would be a good idea to schedule weekly sessions for the first month or so. |
Q | Can EFT be effective over the phone? | To Top |
A | Definitely. Marelon has a number of phone clients all over North America. All have achieved significant breakthroughs and progress. Some of the most enthusiastic remarks scattered throughout this website are from phone clients. |
Q | Can EFT be used with children? | To Top |
A | Certainly. Some children are happy to learn basic EFT to calm themselves, others prefer to have Marelon do the tapping while they relax. EFT usually works very quickly with children because they have not been repressing feelings for decades. |
Q | My teenage refuses to have EFT but I know it would help him/her. Can anything be done? | To Top |
A | Yes, EFT works well when “surrogate” tapping is done. EFT is done on the parent, who is “standing in” for the reluctant teenager. Sometimes results are noticeable immediately; sometimes it takes several sessions. Those EFT practitioners who work with children highly recommend surrogate tapping for teenagers, as it can produce excellent results and bring the teenager out of intense emotional pain. EFT cannot be used to manipulate a teenager or anyone else. |
Q | Can EFT be used for chronic or serious illnesses? | To Top |
A | Absolutely. Most illnesses seem to have roots in unresolved emotional issues. EFT can uncover and resolve these issues and many people find their symptoms lessen or disappear when the true emotional root has been resolved. |
Q | Can EFT be used for pain that is strictly physical in origin? | To Top |
A | It is always worth a try! It is frequently effective even for pain that has an obvious physical origin. |
Q | Is EFT guaranteed to work? | To Top |
A | A practitioner can guarantee that they will do their best with EFT but there is never any guarantee it will work. However since it proves effective in 80% - 95% of cases the odds are very good that it will work for you. Some practitioners do offer that you will not have to pay if you do not experience any relief or improvement. In this case, expect the practitioner to define very precisely what “relief” or “improvement” means. Marelon will enter into this kind of agreement if it is specifically requested and if the client is willing to sign a statement detailing what is meant in their case by “improvement” or “relief.” |
Q | I can’t talk about my issue without “seizing up” or breaking into tears. Must I tell the practitioner what happened? | To Top |
A | No. In fact you are encouraged to avoid anything that makes you more emotional. An experienced practitioner can approach such a loaded, difficult issue in several gentle ways that minimize tears. |
Q | I have other questions – can I talk to Marelon before making an appointment? | To Top |
A | You can talk to Marelon for free for 10-15 minutes and ask whatever you want to. Marelon asks that you leave a message on her answering machine requesting to speak to her, and clearly spell out your name and slowly state your phone number and then repeat your phone number. (Several callers have spoken their phone number so quickly it cannot be distinguished and Marelon has been unable to return their calls.) |
Q | I just want to set up an appointment as quickly as possible. Should I call or email? | To Top |
A | Emailing is always better, faster and clearer. If you do phone, be sure to repeat your phone number slowly and clearly twice, and give Marelon a time when you can be reached by phone. If she is available then, she will return your call. |
